Privacy Policy

This policy explains what MyCal collects, why we need it, who helps us process it and the choices you have.

Effective 2 September 2026

1. Who we are

MyCal is a food-tracking application operated by LifeTech Pty Ltd (“MyCal”, “we”, “us” or “our”). This Privacy Policy applies to the MyCal mobile application, this website and related support services.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create or access an account, we may receive your name, email address, account identifier and profile information from the sign-in method you choose, such as Google or Apple.

Profile and goal information

We collect the details you provide to personalise MyCal, such as age, selected gender, weight, activity level, goal, goal pace and calculated calorie or macronutrient targets. Some of this information may be health-related or sensitive personal information under applicable law.

Food content and tracking history

We process food photos, meal descriptions, estimated nutrition information, timestamps and entries you save. Photos are analysed to generate estimated calories and macronutrients and may be retained when needed to show your tracking history.

Subscription and transaction information

Apple processes App Store payments. We receive information needed to confirm your subscription status, purchase entitlement and renewal state, but we do not receive your complete payment-card details.

Technical and support information

We may collect device and app version, operating system, language, approximate region, feature interactions, error logs, crash information, request timing and communications you send to support. We use this information to operate, secure and improve MyCal.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • create and secure your account;
  • calculate and display personalised calorie and macronutrient targets;
  • analyse submitted food content and return nutrition estimates;
  • save and display your entries and progress;
  • verify subscriptions, restore purchases and provide paid features;
  • respond to support requests and communicate important service information;
  • detect misuse, investigate incidents and maintain reliability; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

Where applicable, we process information to perform our contract with you, with your consent, for our legitimate interests in operating a safe and useful service, or to comply with law. You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing, although this may prevent a feature from working.

4. When information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with:

  • cloud, authentication and database providers, including Google and Firebase, which help sign users in and securely operate MyCal;
  • AI processing providers that analyse submitted food photos and text to generate requested nutrition estimates;
  • Apple, which processes App Store subscriptions and provides purchase status;
  • security and technical service providers used to diagnose errors, prevent abuse and maintain the service;
  • professional advisers or authorities where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or respond to lawful requests; and
  • a successor organisation if MyCal or relevant business assets are reorganised, financed, sold or transferred, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service providers are permitted to process information only for the services they provide to us and must protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.

5. Food photos and AI analysis

Food photos and related text are sent to our processing systems and AI service providers so MyCal can identify likely foods and estimate nutrition. Do not upload images containing faces, identity documents, private correspondence, payment information or other content unrelated to food tracking. AI-generated nutrition information may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be checked where precision matters.

We do not use your food photos for third-party advertising or sell them to data brokers. If our use of submitted content materially changes, we will update this policy and seek consent where required.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep account, profile, food and subscription information for as long as reasonably needed to provide MyCal and fulfil the purposes above. Support and security records may be retained for a reasonable period to resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.

You can initiate account deletion in MyCal or follow the steps on our Delete Account page. Deleting your account removes or de-identifies associated personal information unless we must retain a limited record for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or security reasons. Residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups are overwritten in the ordinary course.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • access or receive a copy of personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • delete your account and associated information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent; and
  • complain to your local privacy regulator.

You can also change camera permission in iOS Settings. Turning off camera access prevents new photo capture but does not delete existing entries. To make a privacy request, email privacy@mycal.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

8. Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet or storage system is completely secure. Our providers may process information in Australia, the United States and other countries where they operate. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international transfers.

9. Children and young people

MyCal is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use MyCal only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without valid permission, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MyCal or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version here, change the effective date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your rights.
